Today, I will be talking about the 3 Mindset Hacks to Write Your Book Faster (even if you haven’t started yet).
So many people come to me with all of these ideas for their book. I’m all for that – write your stories! Your voice needs to be heard. You can help and reach so many people by writing your book.
Think about the impact you can have and all the people’s lives you can affect when you write this book.
But the problem is… so many people think that:
- It’s going to take a lot of time.
- It’s hard.
- They’re not sure what to write.
These thoughts keep people from actually moving forward with the book. Some don’t move forward at all because of some sort of paralyzation or putting it off for later – which is what I did with my very first book. Now I’ve helped 105 others become best sellers and have 10 best sellers of my own.
Let’s get to it:
1. Stop Lying to Yourself.
Table of Contents
The number one lie is having writer’s block.
Writer’s block does not exist. In my world, it’s called clarity block. This means that you’re not clear on what the book is supposed to do, who it’s for, what you want to write about. Once you’re really clear about where you’re taking the reader from Point A to Point B, it’s a lot easier to put in the in-betweens.
The second lie is not having enough time.
Is there something behind the time issue? Is there a limiting belief that is keeping you from writing this book? What is really about the time that you’re using that as your excuse?
Stop lying to yourself about time and make a commitment. Once you’re committed, the time doesn’t matter. You’ve got to have a drop-dead date for your book. People are so okay with letting themselves down so you have to have that drop-dead date that you can’t slide for any reason.
2. Know Your WHY
If you truly know the ‘why’ behind your book, it will mean so much more to you to get it done.
There are two ‘why’s in your book:
1. Because the reader needs help; I can help so many people.
2. What you want for this book.
Be as selfish as possible. Declare it and own it. It has to be something you anchor in for you that you know why this book is so important to your life.
Ask yourself if you were already that best-selling author, how would you approach this chapter, this section? Here’s the thing: the title of best-selling author or published author is more highly regarded than a doctor. So if you’re channeling all of that, how would you approach writing?
If you need to, take some time and picture having your book in your hands. Visualize all the people you are affecting, transforming, and benefiting throughout the world with your book.
When you have a specific calling, and the story has been given to you until you can share it to people around the world, it’s not going to go away until you get it done.
